Fitting guide

Height and weight matter

A walker that does not fit can cause the falls it is meant to prevent. Check these four things before you buy.

Height

With the user standing straight and arms relaxed, the handles should sit at the crease of the wrist. Too high strains the shoulders; too low bends the back. Our walkers adjust to fit most adults from about 1.50 m to 1.90 m.

Weight

Every walker has a safe weight limit, and the user should sit comfortably below it. Our range carries users up to 120 kg to 136 kg depending on the model. Tell us if you need a heavy-duty frame.

Seat height

On a rollator, the user's feet should rest flat on the floor with knees at a right angle when seated. A model with an adjustable seat fits more people well.

Grip and terrain

If squeezing a brake lever is hard, choose arthritis-friendly loop brakes or ask us about push-down brakes. For gravel, grass and uneven paving, large or pneumatic wheels make walking safer.

Questions

Buying a walker: common questions

What is the difference between a walker and a rollator?

A walker, or zimmer frame, is a light frame the user lifts or slides forward; it gives the most support for short distances indoors. A rollator has three or four wheels, hand brakes and usually a seat, so the user can walk further and stop to rest.

How do I choose the right size of walker?

Set the handles at the crease of the user's wrist when they stand straight with arms relaxed, and check the user's weight is below the walker's limit. If you share the user's height and weight with us, we will recommend the right model before you order.

Which walker is best for someone with arthritis or a weak grip?

Look for loop brakes that are easy to squeeze, such as on our lightweight aluminium rollator, or a zimmer frame with paddle folding. For users who cannot squeeze a brake at all, ask us about push-down brakes that engage when the user leans on the frame.

How long does delivery take in Zambia?

Most walkers reach Lusaka within 7 to 14 days of your order being confirmed, assembled and ready to use. We deliver across Lusaka and send to other towns in Zambia by courier.

Do you supply clinics, hospitals and care homes?

Yes. Add the walkers you need to your cart and request a quotation, or contact us directly for volume pricing and standing orders.

Not sure which walker is right?

Send us the user's height, weight and where they will mostly walk. We will recommend the right model and confirm the price, delivered.
